The purpose of this study is to examine the black and mainstream press coverage given to Jackie Robinson and the Negro leagues before and after he broke the color barrier with the Brooklyn Dodgers in April 1947.
This study also explores the impact the Negro press had on Robinson's career and how the breaking of the color barrier impacted Negro baseball. [Read]
